Denver Farmers Market

“I have made a solid commitment to agriculture since the early 90’s, says Chris.” Taste the greatness of Colorado; located in the Bed Bath and Beyond parking lot every Wednesday and Saturday during the summer. The Cherry Creek farmers market is home to fresh fruit and vegetables that capture everyone’s interest and eyes. The farmers market is an event where anyone can get fresh fruits and vegetables grown in Colorado by our own farmers. One can also get fragrant flowers, culinary herbs, gourmet foods, natural meats and artesian cheeses.

The farmers markets of Colorado are leaders in the industry of fresh fruits and vegetables. These markets offer access to the best produce Colorado has to offer. The average produce that is bought and sold in stores will travel up to 2000 miles and every day the fruit or vegetable that is not on shelves will continues to lose the savory freshness. I had a chance to speak with Chris Burke who works closely with his wife Michele Burke. “We want to take the idea of having fresh fruits and vegetables among other goods and incorporate that into a business where food is naturally grown and sold by the farmers to the consumers.” Chris and Michele’s idea was centered around the European outdoor markets where fresh fruit and vegetables are sold on a daily basis.

The market is in the heart of Denver and the vendors are set up on either side of you. As you walk in you can smell the freshness of fruit and vegetables. The peaches and watermelons remind me of my childhood sitting on the porch eating peaches fresh from my grandparents trees and watermelon from the corner store. I walked and walked from one end of the market to the other. I saw freshly made juice and preserve that looked delicious. The farmers market has become the largest outdoors market of fresh fruit in Colorado.

The people who have a taste for fresh fruits and vegetables come from different nationalities and races. This is home to our very own melting pot; there are no colors more predominant than the other. Everyone has a taste for the market and is welcomed just the same. The melting pot of people go hand in hand with the different colors of fruits and vegetables. Red and green chili, red and green apples, orange cantelope, green celery and cucumbers, red and green tomatoes and a host of other colors. The flowers are just as beautiful; with sultry purple, pinks, reds and yellows to compliment any yard.

The Cherry Creek farmers market is everything a healthy eater desires in a vegetable or fruit. The farmers market has been in business for several years and continues to grow with the farmers that have a need to increase production due to an increase of need as Coloradans continue to strive for health the farmer’s market supply and demand continues to meet the needs of women, men, children and elders. The greatest experiences at the farmers market occur when our taste buds require fulfillment by eating turnips, Italian parsley, peaches, strawberries or grapes etc... The farmers market reflects the greatness of Colorado.
